Kshatriya Parishad Criticizes Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Yadav Over Chauhaan Announcement
The recently announced Bollywood action film “Chauhaan,” directed by Neeraj Yadav and featuring Ajay Devgn, has sparked immediate controversy. Following its announcement, the film has faced sharp criticism from the Kshatriya Parishad, an organization representing the Rajput community. They have issued a formal statement expressing their dissatisfaction with the film’s thematic direction and its implications for Rajput identity.
Allegations of Communal Politics and Distortion
In a strongly worded press release, the Kshatriya Parishad condemned both Yadav and Devgn for what they perceive as an appropriation of the Chauhan clan name for contemporary communal politics. The organization stated, “We strongly condemn the recent attempt by Neeraj Yadav and actor Ajay Devgn to appropriate the Chauhan clan name for contemporary communal politics.” They emphasized the historical significance of the Chauhans, asserting, “The Chauhans are a historic Rajput (Kshatriya) lineage whose legacy belongs to history, not to partisan campaigns or manufactured media controversies.”
The group expressed disappointment that Rajput culture is being dragged into modern public disputes without their consent. They remarked, “It is deeply unfortunate that Rajput identity is once again being dragged into a political narrative that Rajputs neither initiated nor sought.” The Kshatriya Parishad further criticized the film’s premise, arguing that it reflects a lack of historical awareness. They stated, “Such attempts also betray a profound ignorance of Indian history. The subcontinent’s past cannot be reduced to simplistic communal binaries.”
Demand for Creativity with Responsibility
The Kshatriya Parishad concluded their statement by opposing the use of heritage for modern ideological gains. They declared, “We reject every attempt to weaponise Rajput history or appropriate Rajput identities for electoral or ideological purposes.” The organization called for political actors, filmmakers, and media organizations to engage with India’s past responsibly, urging them to respect historical complexity rather than exploiting Rajput heritage for divisive political debate.
