India to Host National Conference on Restructuring Ecosystem

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the Association of Insolvency Professional Entities (AIPE) are set to co-host a significant National Conference on June 13, 2026, in New Delhi. Titled “Redefining India’s Restructuring Ecosystem: A Decade of Learning – Directions for the Future,” this event celebrates a pivotal milestone—the tenth anniversary of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016.

This gathering will convene a diverse group of stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, insolvency professionals, and industry leaders, to reflect on the progress made in India’s insolvency landscape and to discuss future directions for the restructuring ecosystem. The conference aims not only to celebrate the achievements of the past decade but also to foster insightful discussions on the way forward.

Convocation Ceremony and Keynote Speakers

A highlight of the conference will be the Convocation Ceremony for the 6th Batch of the Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP)—a flagship initiative by IICA aimed at nurturing a new generation of insolvency experts. Shri Harsh Malhotra, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, will grace the event as Chief Guest. In addition, Justice Ashok Bhushan, Chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), is expected to deliver the Convocation Address, with Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal, President of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), also in attendance as Guest of Honour.

Impact of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code

Since its introduction, the IBC has transformed the corporate distress resolution approach in India by establishing a structured, transparent framework that emphasizes timely resolutions. This reform has enhanced credit discipline, bolstered investor confidence, and ultimately improved the business environment across the nation.

Future Directions and Thematic Sessions

The conference aims to steer discussions around institutional strengthening, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration while drawing from global best practices. There will be four thematic sessions that explore critical topics such as:

  • Cross-Border Insolvency Frameworks: Assessing Global Standards and Domestic Readiness
  • Reimagining Early-Stage Resolution: Exploring Pre-Packs, CIIRP, and Alternative Dispute Resolution
  • Unlocking Value in Distressed Assets: Building a Mature Ecosystem
  • Innovating the Future-Ready Insolvency Framework through Technology and Institutional Resilience

The event will attract participants from various sectors, including representatives from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), banks, asset reconstruction companies, and academic institutions.

IICA’s Commitment to Excellence

IICA plays a crucial role in strengthening corporate governance, insolvency practices, and economic policy. This conference reaffirms its commitment to fostering professional excellence, capacity building, and thoughtful dialogue within India’s evolving insolvency framework.
