India Launches ‘Navachar Mantra’ to Boost Grassroots Innovation

In a bid to empower grassroots entrepreneurship and foster innovation across India, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) announced the launch of ‘Navachar Mantra’ today. This ambitious national initiative aims to enhance opportunities for emerging innovators, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns, as well as aspirational districts. The program will be executed by the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) in collaboration with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) from IIT Delhi.

The initiative was inaugurated by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, during a ceremony held at IIT Delhi. The event brought together a diverse audience of policymakers, leaders from the startup ecosystem, academic institutions, investors, and enthusiastic young entrepreneurs.

During his address, Minister Chaudhary emphasized the vision of making India a hub for innovative technologies, saying, “The world should not only use products made in India but should use technologies imagined in India. This reflects the true spirit of Navachar Mantra.” He expressed a strong belief that with India’s unique challenges, diverse realities, and the talent of its youth, the nation is poised to leave a significant mark on global innovation.

Chaudhary urged young innovators to chase careers and ideas that ignite their passion, stressing the importance of fulfillment in professional pursuits. He highlighted that meaningful innovations arise from individuals who are driven by purpose and passion rather than mere opportunity.

A significant highlight of the launch event was a fireside chat titled “Navigating the Entrepreneurial Journey: From Grassroots Innovation to National Scale.” This engaging discussion featured successful entrepreneurs such as Shri Sandeep Agarwal, Founder of Droom, and Shri Bipin Preet Singh, Founder of MobiKwik. They shared their insights on resilience and scaling ventures, providing inspiration to the aspiring innovators present.

Navachar Mantra seeks to nurture India’s most promising grassroots innovators and emerging entrepreneurs, providing them with invaluable resources and support. The initiative will offer a structured ecosystem designed for innovators in critical sectors including Agritech, HealthTech, EdTech, Climate and Sustainability, and more. Through this initiative, selected innovators will have access to guidance from industry leaders, investors, and domain experts to refine their business models and accelerate their growth journeys.

Registrations are now open for interested innovators and entrepreneurs via a dedicated digital platform, with the final date for applications set for July 5, 2026. An in-depth evaluation process involving experts from academia, industry, and government will identify high-potential ventures, focusing on solutions tackling local challenges.

Those chosen will participate in a comprehensive year-long program that includes mentorship, thematic webinars, and opportunities for national exposure. This will culminate in a significant showcase event, enabling participants to share their journeys and achievements with a larger audience.

The launch event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Shri Dilip Kumar, Director General, Directorate General of Training (DGT) and other senior officials from various sectors. Together, they celebrated the commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in India, aspiring to create an ecosystem conducive to a self-reliant and vibrant economy.
