DRDO and IAF Successfully Test RudraM-II Missile
The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with the Indian Air Force (IAF), has triumphantly conducted flight tests for the RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missile. These tests showcase the missile’s capability to perform accurately under challenging conditions, successfully demonstrating the reliability of all subsystems involved.
During the flight tests, the missiles were released from an airborne platform and guided to hit a predetermined target with remarkable precision. The objectives of the tests were fully achieved, as verified by the data collected from various range instruments set up by the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur.
Indigenous Development and Collaboration
The RudraM-II has been developed in India by the Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad, which serves as the main DRDO laboratory for this project. The development involved collaboration with various sister labs, including the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, and Armament Research & Development Establishment. Additionally, the project benefited from support by Development cum Production Partners (DcPPs) and key industry players like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and the Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness.

Shri Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India, has praised the efforts of the DRDO, IAF, public sector undertakings, and industry partners in achieving this significant milestone. He remarked that the successful flight tests highlight the growing sophistication of India’s indigenous defence technologies, bolstering the country’s self-reliance in advanced weaponry.
The Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development, who also chairs the DRDO, extended congratulations to all personnel and teams involved in the flight tests. This commendable achievement reflects their hard work and dedication, marking a pivotal step in advancing India’s defence capabilities.
