Telangana Welcomes Meghalaya Student Delegation for Cultural Exchange
The Governor of Telangana, Shiv Pratap Shukla, welcomed a delegation of students from Meghalaya at Lok Bhavan, Hyderabad, on May 28, 2026. This event forms part of a vibrant educational and cultural exchange program designed to foster national integration and promote cross-cultural learning among young adults.
Immersive Learning Journey Begins
The Meghalaya student delegation, primarily from the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, embarked on their journey to Telangana on May 25, 2026. Their first stop was the National Institute of Technology Warangal, where they received an enthusiastic welcome. This marked the start of a rich exploration of Telangana’s educational landscape and cultural heritage.
Youth as Pillars of National Integration
During the interaction, Governor Shukla emphasized the crucial role that youth play in reinforcing national unity and promoting understanding among diverse cultures. The students shared firsthand experiences from their Yuva Sangam journey and presented a memento to the Governor, symbolizing respect and cherished memories. The discussions enriched participants’ understanding of India’s democratic values and diverse cultural fabric.
Cultural and Educational Exploration
The delegation’s itinerary included visits to various cultural and educational landmarks throughout Telangana. They explored iconic sites such as Hussain Sagar Lake, the Statue of Equality, Ramappa Temple, Warangal Fort, Bhadrakali Temple, and the Thousand Pillar Temple. These visits allowed students to immerse themselves in the region’s history, cultural richness, and academic excellence.
Additionally, the group visited Kanha Shanti Vanam and T-Hub, where they learned about holistic well-being practices and the burgeoning innovation and startup ecosystem in India. This exposure provided valuable insights into the state’s developmental initiatives.

At NIT Warangal, students had the opportunity to engage with research and innovation facilities. They participated in a plantation drive that highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability. A valedictory program on May 30, 2026, marked the conclusion of their engaging experiences during the Yuva Sangam journey.
Yuva Sangam: Bridging Cultures Across India
Launched by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, the Yuva Sangam Phase VI initiative aims to enhance national unity, cultural harmony, and emotional integration through immersive exchanges. This program unites participants from 22 paired States and Union Territories, providing a platform for deeper understanding of India’s diverse cultures, innovation ecosystems, and collective aspirations for nation-building.
The Meghalaya student delegation is set to return home on May 31, 2026, after a fruitful and enlightening journey in Telangana.
