BRO Celebrates 37 Years of Project UDAYAK in Assam
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) proudly marked the 37th Raising Day of Project UDAYAK on June 1, 2026, at Doomdooma, Assam. This significant occasion celebrated over three decades of unwavering service dedicated to enhancing strategic infrastructure in India’s North-Eastern region. The celebratory events included ceremonial activities, community welfare initiatives, and outreach programs that highlight the project’s commitment to social engagement.
Activities such as the Swachhata Abhiyan, road safety awareness campaigns, and a vibrant run and walkathon were held as part of the festivities. Additionally, medical and dental camps were organized to benefit local communities, showcasing the Project’s enduring dedication to public welfare. Internal events like the Sainik Sammelan and troop interactions aimed to strengthen bonds among personnel, fostering a spirit of camaraderie.
Development of Strategic Infrastructure
Project UDAYAK oversees an expansive road network of over 1,457 kilometers, playing a crucial role in developing and maintaining strategic roads in the easternmost areas of Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam. This project encompasses the districts of Anjaw, Lohit, Dibang Valley, Longding, Tirap, and Changlang, significantly enhancing connectivity in remote regions that are strategically essential along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the Indo-Myanmar border.
Currently, Project UDAYAK is also engaged in the construction of roads and border fencing infrastructure along the Indo-Myanmar border, reinforcing national security while improving accessibility in these border regions.
Recent Achievements and Commitment to Excellence
In recent years, Project UDAYAK has successfully completed several vital infrastructure projects that have transformed the region. Notable achievements include the inauguration of 12 bridges, a new road, and one helipad by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh in 2025. These projects have substantially contributed to improved connectivity and mobility, playing a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of local communities.
On its 37th Raising Day, Project UDAYAK reasserted its commitment to excellence and nation-building.
