New MSME Technology Centre and Extension Centres Open in Bihar

In a significant boost for entrepreneurship and skills development in Bihar, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Samrat Choudhary, inaugurated a state-of-the-art MSME Technology Centre in Sikandarpur, Bihta, Patna, along with four Extension Centres in Muzaffarpur, Rohtas, Darbhanga, and Munger. This initiative is aimed at empowering the youth of Bihar with essential skills and technological support to drive growth in the MSME sector.

Empowering Entrepreneurs

The inauguration also marked the launch of an Entrepreneur Awareness and Special Vendor Development Programme under the National SC/ST Hub Scheme. The Union Minister and the Chief Minister interacted with a variety of exhibitors from the National SC/ST Hub, PM Vishwakarma, and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), showcasing their products at the Technology Centre’s exhibition.

Support for MSME Development

During the event, toolkits and cheques were distributed to beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, PMEGP, and Gramodyog Vikas Yojana. Moreover, certificates of recognition were awarded to various beneficiaries of the National SC/ST Hub Scheme. “These initiatives will greatly contribute to the growth and development of Bihar,” expressed Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, praising the efforts of the Ministry of MSME.

Focus on Training and Technology

The newly established Technology Centre, set up at a cost of ₹171 crore on a 15-acre plot provided by the Bihar government, is focused on general engineering and is equipped with advanced technologies including CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and industrial automation. It is expected to train over one lakh youth in various high-demand skills such as tool and die making, CNC manufacturing, and advanced welding over the coming years.

The four Extension Centres will collectively train more than 5,500 individuals annually through short and long-term training programs. Focus areas include AI/IoT, Tool & Die Making, and 3D Printing. These centres aim to support approximately 1,500 MSMEs each year to enhance their operational efficiency and competitiveness.

A Broader Vision for MSMEs

Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, provided an overview of the MSME Ministry’s various initiatives, highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship in the region. The Ministry also announced plans to organize 350 Entrepreneur Awareness & Special Vendor Development programmes across the country to enhance awareness about the National SC/ST Hub Scheme, empowering SC/ST micro and small enterprises to engage in public procurement.
