Recharge Jio or Airtel Plans Directly Through WhatsApp Chat

Recharging mobile numbers in India is set to become significantly more convenient with WhatsApp’s latest feature, allowing users to top up their prepaid accounts directly within the app. This new functionality aims to streamline everyday transactions, such as mobile recharges and metro ticket purchases, all while promoting WhatsApp Pay, the platform’s payment service that competes with established players like Google Pay and PhonePe. The feature is currently being rolled out to users on both Android and iOS devices.

Partnership with PayU

WhatsApp has teamed up with fintech company PayU to introduce this innovative feature, enabling users to recharge their mobile numbers without leaving the messaging platform. Users can recharge their accounts with major telecom operators in India, including Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea. This integration eliminates the need for users to navigate to specific telecom websites or apps, making the process much more user-friendly. However, it is important to note that this feature is currently limited to prepaid users. Those on postpaid plans will still need to visit their respective telecom operators’ websites or apps to settle their monthly bills.

Phased Rollout and Accessibility

The new recharge feature is being rolled out in phases across India for both Android and iOS users. Once available, it can be accessed through the Payments section of the app, which is indicated by a Rupee icon located next to the Camera icon in the Chats tab. In addition to mobile recharges, this payments section also includes options for booking metro tickets for various cities, such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, further enhancing the app’s utility for everyday transactions.

Step-by-Step Guide to Recharge

Recharging your mobile number through WhatsApp is a straightforward process. Here’s how to do it:
1. Open WhatsApp and tap the Rupee icon located at the top right corner of the Chats tab.
2. Select the Mobile Prepaid Recharge option.
3. Enter your mobile number or choose a contact whose number you wish to recharge.
4. Choose your telecom service provider.
5. Pick your preferred recharge plan.
6. Select your payment method.
7. Complete the payment to finalize the recharge.

This new feature is expected to enhance user experience on WhatsApp, making it easier for individuals to manage their mobile services while enjoying the convenience of a single platform for multiple transactions.
