NITI Aayog Unveils ‘Divya Bharat’ to Showcase India’s Tourism
NITI Aayog has launched a new anthology titled “Divya Bharat: A Window to the Soul of India”, designed to inspire both citizens and global travelers to explore the rich tapestry of India’s tourism landscape. This initiative aims to provide a structured and immersive approach to discovering the diverse attractions across the nation.
The anthology was officially released by Shri Suman Bery, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, who was joined by Smt. Nidhi Chibber, CEO of NITI Aayog; Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism; and Shri Yugal Joshi, Programme Director at NITI Aayog, along with high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture.
Focus on Tourism Growth
During the launch, Shri Suman Bery emphasized the crucial role of tourism in driving economic growth, aligned with the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. He noted the importance of developing world-class destinations in each state to enhance longer tourist stays, particularly in domestic and religious tourism. Bery highlighted the need for improved Centre-State collaboration, data-driven policymaking, and better infrastructure, while commending efforts to establish a unified platform aimed at increasing both domestic awareness and global appeal of India’s tourism sector.
A Seasonal Journey Through Tourism
Designed as a year-round travel companion, Divya Bharat offers a unique seasonal perspective on India’s tourism. The anthology integrates a blend of iconic landmarks, heritage sites, traditional festivals, diverse cuisines, and lesser-known destinations from all States and Union Territories, promoting a more holistic and engaging travel experience.
Encouraging Experiential Travel
Reflecting India’s historical connection to travel and cultural exploration, the anthology encourages tourists to engage deeply with local communities and traditions, moving beyond conventional sightseeing. It aims to promote balanced tourism by urging travelers to explore various seasons and regions, which in turn supports local economies, preserves cultural heritage, and fosters community engagement.
Collaboration Across Sectors
The launch event brought together representatives from various sectors, including Airbnb; Atithi Foundation; Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP); Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM); and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). This collaboration underscores the importance of partnerships among government entities, industry leaders, and academic institutions to strengthen India’s tourism ecosystem.
A Step Towards Inclusive Growth
This initiative is part of India’s broader efforts to position tourism as a pivotal component of economic growth, cultural exchange, and national identity. With a structured and accessible overview of the country’s tourism offerings, Divya Bharat is anticipated to be a valuable resource for travelers, policymakers, and stakeholders.
Developed through rigorous research and curation, the anthology aspires to inspire individuals to travel widely across India, uncovering new destinations and engaging with the country’s unique diversity in a meaningful way.
The anthology, “Divya Bharat: A Window to the Soul of India”, exemplifies NITI Aayog’s ongoing commitment to promoting tourism as a driver of inclusive growth, cultural pride, and sustainable development.
