UP STF and Mumbai Crime Branch Arrest Suspect in Rohit Shetty House Shooting Incident
A collaborative effort between the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) and the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has led to the arrest of a suspect linked to a shooting incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence earlier this year. The suspect, identified as Pradeep Kumar, also known as Gaath, was apprehended in Agra. The shooting, which occurred in February, involved gunmen firing at Shetty’s home, prompting heightened security measures in the area.
Details of the Shooting Incident
The alarming incident took place in February outside Shetty Tower, located in Juhu, Mumbai. Gunmen targeted the building, firing shots that struck the glass railing of the filmmaker’s balcony. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the attack. In response to the shooting, security around Shetty’s residence was significantly increased to ensure the safety of the filmmaker and his family. Authorities believe that the attack was orchestrated by the Shubham Lonkar gang, with motives rooted in extortion and an intention to instill fear within the film industry and the general public.
Arrest and Investigation Progress
The arrest of Pradeep Kumar was made possible through a combination of technical analysis and intelligence sharing between the Mumbai Crime Branch and the UP STF. The operation was overseen by Additional Superintendent of Police Rakesh from the STF Field Unit in Agra. During initial questioning, Kumar reportedly confessed to his involvement in the shooting and named several associates, including individuals known as Sunny, Deepu, and Sonu. The police indicated that this group aimed to assert their dominance in the underworld.
Following his arrest, Kumar was transferred to the custody of the Mumbai Police at the Bah police station. The case, which was registered in February, involves multiple charges under various legal statutes, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act, the Maharashtra Police Act, and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. Kumar’s arrest marks the latest development in an ongoing investigation that has already seen eight other individuals taken into custody, including Pradeep Sharma alias Golu, Deepak, and Vishnu Kushwaha.
Rohit Shetty’s Response and Current Projects
In the weeks following the shooting incident, Rohit Shetty took to social media to share a lighthearted post that seemed to reference the situation. He humorously remarked on the unexpected turn of events in his life, stating, “All these years spent making action and comedy films, ab saala life mein hi action and comedy chal rahi hai.” This reflects Shetty’s resilience and ability to maintain a sense of humor amidst challenging circumstances.
Currently, the filmmaker is engaged in the production of “Golmaal 5,” which commenced filming on his 52nd birthday, March 14, 2026. The project has generated excitement, particularly with the return of actor Sharman Joshi as Laxman and the addition of Akshay Kumar to the cast. The film is highly anticipated by fans of the franchise, promising to deliver the signature blend of comedy and action that Shetty is known for.
