New MoUs to Boost Job Opportunities via National Career Service

The Ministry of Labour & Employment has successfully forged partnerships with Porter and Gigin Technologies, aiming to expand employment opportunities and enhance digital job matching through the National Career Service (NCS) portal. This collaboration took place under the auspices of Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with the Ministry’s Secretary, Ms. Vandana Gurnani.

Significance of the NCS Portal

In a speech during the signing ceremony, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized that the NCS platform has transformed into a vital tool for youth seeking job opportunities that align with their skills. Currently, the portal lists over 700,000 active vacancies and boasts registration from nearly 5.9 million establishments. This expansive reach presents substantial opportunities for young job seekers across the nation.

The Union Minister expressed optimism that the collaboration with Porter and Gigin would benefit all involved parties and further reinforce the NCS portal’s capacity. He noted the portal’s integration with platforms such as e-Migrate, SIDH, and My Bharat, which enhances its expansive reach and transformative potential.

Addressing Skill Gaps

Dr. Mandaviya also highlighted the importance of addressing skill gaps among job seekers. He called on Gigin and Porter, in cooperation with NCS, to develop training programs focusing on soft skills. He asserted that short-duration training tailored to the needs of job seekers and industry requirements would significantly improve youth employability.

Partnership Potential

Secretary Gurnani pointed out the considerable impact of the NCS portal, which has registered over 60 million job seekers and facilitated more than 90 million vacancies since its launch. She reaffirmed her confidence that the collaboration with Porter and Gigin Technologies will enhance participation and collaboration within this platform, ultimately creating dignified livelihood opportunities for a vast number of young job seekers.

A representative from Porter stated that the company, a tech-enabled Goods Transport Agency, aims to leverage the NCS portal to promote logistics-related jobs significantly. They plan to create approximately 600,000 opportunities annually through this partnership, targeting a total of 3 million jobs by 2030.

Meanwhile, Gigin’s representative noted that their platform utilizes artificial intelligence to deliver verified job opportunities. Today’s agreements mark a pivotal step towards blending digital recruitment with the government’s employment facilitation efforts. Gigin intends to generate between 200,000 and 300,000 authentic job opportunities each year through the NCS portal.

A Commitment to Inclusivity

Both partnerships are set to enhance visibility for job opportunities and promote labor market inclusiveness. Aligned with the Ministry’s vision of fostering secure and digitally enabled livelihoods throughout India, these collaborations demonstrate the government’s commitment to leveraging innovative technologies and partnerships to create accessible employment pathways for the workforce.
