NCC Launches Cyber Security Training to Empower Cadets

In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing the cyber awareness and defending capabilities of young cadets, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) has partnered with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) to introduce a Cyber Security Capacity Building Programme. This program, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by NCC Director General, Lt Gen Virendra Vats, and NIELIT Director General, Dr Madan Mohan Tripathi, marks a significant advancement in youth cyber training.

Two-Phase Cyber Security Program

The newly launched initiative will unfold in two distinct phases. The initial phase, dubbed the Cyber Security Awareness Programme, consists of a 15-hour online training module. This module is specifically designed to impart essential knowledge regarding digital literacy, safe internet practices, and effective cyber hygiene. Additionally, it will provide crucial insights into recognizing cyber threats. This foundational stage is accessible to all enrolled NCC cadets nationwide through the NIELIT Digital University platform.

Advanced Training for Select Cadets

The second phase, known as the Cyber Defender Programme, entails a rigorous 60-hour offline training regimen. This stage targets selected cadets who will qualify through a merit-based evaluation process. Participants in this advanced program will engage in hands-on training and real-world simulations, thereby gaining practical exposure to various cyber security tools and techniques. The focus will be on equipping cadets with the skills necessary to effectively identify and respond to cyber threats.

Empowering Cadets to Lead Cyber Initiatives

This initiative not only aims to cultivate a skilled group of NCC Cyber Cadets but also aspires to promote cyber awareness and safe digital practices at the grassroots level. By aligning with the national priorities under the Digital India initiative and the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), the program is positioned to play a vital role in enhancing the cyber security landscape across the nation.

With these dedicated training efforts, NCC and NIELIT are setting the stage for a future where youth are proactive participants in the digital world, ensuring that they are well-prepared to tackle the challenges posed by cyber threats.
