CBFC Cleans Up Bhooth Bangla: Film’s Length Trimmed by 10 Minutes After Certification
Dhurandhar The Revenge is currently enjoying a successful run at the box office, and anticipation is building for the upcoming release of Bhooth Bangla. Scheduled to hit theaters on April 17, with paid previews on April 16, the film has already completed its censor process. This article delves into the changes made to the film following its review by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
CBFC’s Review and Changes
Bhooth Bangla received a U/A 16+ rating from the CBFC, but not without some required modifications. The Examining Committee identified several instances of inappropriate language and content that needed to be addressed. Specifically, an obscene word was replaced at the 26-minute mark, while additional offensive language was flagged for removal about an hour into the film. Furthermore, a derogatory reference to women in the first half was also mandated to be altered. The committee requested disclaimers to be added for any religious and superstitious references present in the film.
After implementing these changes, the filmmakers received their censor certificate on April 2. The official runtime of the film, as stated on the certificate, is 174.57 minutes, translating to approximately 2 hours and 54 minutes. Notably, Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that the film was expected to have a runtime close to 170 minutes.
Voluntary Cuts and Final Runtime
In a recent development, the team behind Bhooth Bangla approached the CBFC again to propose voluntary cuts to the film. The board accepted these adjustments on April 11. The filmmakers trimmed a total of 63 scenes, with some cuts being as brief as one second. The most significant cut was a 72-second deletion from the song “O Sundari.” Additionally, 27 seconds were removed from another song, “O Re O Sawariya.”
As a result of these voluntary edits, the film’s total runtime has been reduced by 10 minutes and 5 seconds. The revised length now stands at 164.52 minutes, or approximately 2 hours and 44 minutes. This adjustment reflects the filmmakers’ commitment to ensuring the film meets the standards set by the CBFC while maintaining its intended entertainment value.
Anticipation for Bhooth Bangla
As the release date approaches, excitement for Bhooth Bangla continues to grow. The film, featuring popular actor Akshay Kumar, is expected to attract a significant audience. With its blend of horror and comedy, it aims to provide a unique cinematic experience. The extensive changes made during the censor process indicate the filmmakers’ dedication to delivering a polished final product.
In addition to the film’s content adjustments, promotional activities are ramping up. Behind-the-scenes footage and playful interactions among the cast, including Akshay Kumar’s lighthearted pranks on co-star Wamiqa Gabbi, have been shared to engage fans and build anticipation. As the countdown to the premiere begins, all eyes will be on Bhooth Bangla to see how it performs at the box office.
