Ran Samwad Seminar Concludes, Emphasizing Multi-Domain Operations
The national seminar ‘Ran Samwad’, focusing on the crucial theme of “Multi-Domain Operations (MDO): An Imperative for Addressing Conventional and Irregular Threats”, wrapped up on April 10, 2026, at the Air Force Training Command in Bengaluru. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan delivered a compelling closing address, underscoring the necessity for convergence across physical, synthetic, and cognitive spheres in contemporary military operations.
In his address, General Chauhan emphasized the importance of making quicker and smarter decisions within an Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhanced battlefield. He noted that modern warfare traverses various dimensions including time, cyber operations, and the Electro Magnetic (EM) spectrum, necessitating genuine integration across India’s armed forces. As he stated, the shift in focus has moved from mere coordination to achieving true tri-service interoperability.
Future Directions and Collaboration
Looking ahead, Gen Chauhan announced that the next edition of Ran Samwad in 2027 will delve into the theme of “High-Intensity Operations in a Transparent and Expanded Battlespace: Challenges for Force Application and Force Preservation”. Following his speech, he engaged with members of the media, commending their vital contributions to nation-building and the cultivation of a strategic culture.
The second day of the seminar featured in-depth discussions led by senior officers from the tri-services. Topics covered included Doctrinal Adaptation and Training for MDO, the re-imagination of Operational Art, and the integration of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) for achieving information superiority in multi-domain operations. The dialogue reflected a shared commitment to overcoming the challenges posed by both conventional and irregular threats.
Commitment to Operational Excellence
The seminar succeeded in establishing a collaborative road map, emphasizing the intricacies of war, warfare, and combat operations. The spirit of cooperation demonstrated throughout the two-day event highlighted the Indian Defence Forces’ dedication to securing decision superiority and operational excellence in an increasingly contested multi-domain battlespace.
As the Indian Defence Forces continue to adapt to evolving threats, seminars like Ran Samwad play a crucial role in fostering understanding and readiness in an unpredictable security environment.
