NITI Aayog Unveils New Horticulture Development Report for Jammu & Kashmir

The initiative saw participation from a range of institutions, including the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), and several farmer producer organizations (FPOs), cooperatives, self-help groups (SHGs), and private sector representatives. This diverse representation underscores the collaborative effort to revitalize Jammu & Kashmir’s horticultural landscape.
A Roadmap for Future Growth
The newly released report presents a forward-looking roadmap designed to bolster the horticulture sector through a focused, technology-driven approach. It aims to enhance productivity, improve post-harvest infrastructures, promote value addition, and strengthen market linkages. A standout element of this plan is the proposed mission framework known as Operation Golden Greens, which seeks to facilitate the integrated development of various horticultural segments, including fruits, dry fruits, and vegetables.
The roadmap outlines a series of interventions categorized by short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals, all aligned with the vision of creating a resilient and competitive horticulture ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir.
