One-Day Workshop to Boost Vocational Training in India

The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), is set to host a one-day Capacity Building & Awareness Workshop for Awarding Bodies (ABs) on April 7, 2026, at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi. This workshop aims to enhance the skilling ecosystem in the country by improving implementation practices, increasing awareness of regulatory frameworks, and aligning with national priorities in vocational education and training.

Designed to tackle the operational challenges faced by Awarding Bodies, the workshop will provide essential support for effectively discharging their responsibilities. Participants will gain insights into strengthening alignment with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and will enhance their understanding of NCVET’s regulatory framework and guidelines. Moreover, the event will emphasize the importance of adopting digital platforms such as the National Qualification Register (NQR), Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), SIDH, DigiLocker, and KaushalVerse.

Prominent Guests and Inaugural Ceremony

The event will be attended by notable figures, including Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for MSDE, and Minister of State for Education. Other dignitaries include Smt. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of MSDE and Chairperson of NCVET, and Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Gaba, Executive Member of NCVET. Senior officials from MSDE, the Ministry of Education, representatives from Awarding Bodies, and various stakeholders from the skilling and education sectors will also be present.

The workshop will kick off with an inaugural session featuring the unveiling of NCVET’s Employability Skills Modules and the launch of NCVET’s Bi-Annual Newsletter by the Minister. The technical sessions are set to cover crucial thematic areas such as strengthening NSQF alignment and implementation, which will involve presentations on NCVET’s regulatory framework and its functions. Awarding Bodies will share best practices and discuss common challenges they face.

Focus on Digital Integration and Best Practices

A key highlight of the workshop will be a session dedicated to digital integration, where presentations will focus on the KaushalVerse Portal, SIDH Portal, and the Academic Bank of Credits. These discussions will underscore how technology plays a pivotal role in enabling efficient and transparent systems in vocational training.

Additionally, a panel discussion will focus on the convergence of skilling initiatives, emphasizing the role of Awarding Bodies in nurturing vocational education and training (VET) across government schemes and within general education. Further sessions will address training, assessment, and monitoring of Awarding Body operations, including NCVET’s mechanisms for overseeing the skilling ecosystem.

Aiming for a Robust Skilling Ecosystem

The workshop is expected to clarify NCVET’s regulatory expectations for Awarding Bodies, fostering consistency in qualification development, delivery, assessment, and certification. It aims to encourage the sharing of best practices among participants, help identify operational challenges, and enhance the adoption of digital tools for greater transparency, coordination, and efficiency. This initiative reflects NCVET’s commitment to establishing an industry-aligned and future-ready vocational education and training ecosystem in India.
