Telangana Launches ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy to Foster Young Innovators
In a significant stride towards realizing the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat 2047, the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), under NITI Aayog, has introduced the ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy in Telangana. This initiative aims to support innovation at the school level by providing structured mentorship and institutional backing to 379 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) across the state. By empowering young innovators to transform their ideas into practical solutions, Telangana is set to play a pivotal role in India’s grassroots innovation landscape.
Prominent Figures Attend Launch Event
The launch event was attended by notable dignitaries, including His Excellency Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, the Governor of Telangana, and Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines. Senior officials from AIM and the Telangana government were also present, reaffirming their collective commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovators.
Enhancing Engagement and Support
The ATL Sarthi and Mentor India initiative marks an evolution in the way ATLs operate, transitioning from merely providing access to fostering continuous engagement. This program will group ATLs into regional clusters, each supported by a designated nodal institution to facilitate ongoing mentorship, teacher training, and incubation opportunities. Vardhaman College of Engineering has been designated as the state-level nodal institution, leveraging its expertise in technical education and entrepreneurship to enrich ATL activities and strengthen local innovation.
Governor Highlights the Importance of Innovation
During his address, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla emphasized, “The ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy initiative strengthens the foundation of innovation in our schools by creating meaningful linkages between young learners and institutions of excellence. It will empower students to think creatively, solve real-world problems, and contribute to nation-building.” He underscored the necessity of such initiatives in cultivating a generation equipped with confidence and capability.
Empowering Students Through Innovation
This initiative aims to equip students with hands-on experiences in emerging technologies and structured methods for problem-solving. By enhancing teacher capability and providing essential institutional support, ATL Sarthi ensures that innovation remains an ongoing journey within schools.
Building a Robust Innovation Ecosystem
According to Shri Deepak Bagla, Mission Director of AIM, “Guided by the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision, ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy are crucial steps towards establishing a culture where innovation is nurtured from an early stage.” He emphasized the importance of creating strong connections among schools, institutions, and the broader innovation ecosystem, facilitating a pipeline of talent crucial for driving India’s future growth and self-reliance.
The rollout of this initiative in Telangana not only aligns with AIM’s national mission to build one of the largest student innovation ecosystems worldwide but also signifies a step forward in fostering collaboration between government, academia, and industry. With a network of over 10,000 ATLs already operational nationwide, the expectation is that ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy will streamline support for regional innovation centers and cultivate a generation of young entrepreneurs committed to contributing to India’s development journey.
