On April 4, 2026, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan embarked on an important visit to the Chinar Corps in Srinagar, a strategic area in North Kashmir. During his visit, he assessed the current security situation and operational posture along the Line of Control (LoC). General Chauhan praised the corps for its remarkable operational readiness and professional conduct.
Emphasis on Multi-Domain Operations
In Baramulla, the CDS received a comprehensive briefing on Future Force Application and Technology Infusion. Addressing the officers, he noted the significant shifts occurring in warfare, advocating for a transition from a Domain-Centric Approach to Multi-Domain Operations (MDO). This new approach, he asserted, relies on a strong and integrated framework encompassing various domains.
General Chauhan stressed that achieving decisive results in modern conflict requires seamless integration across diverse fields, including Land, Air, Maritime, Cyber, Space, and Cognitive sectors. He highlighted the necessity of enhanced joint training for future warfare and emphasized harmonizing military doctrines and developing interoperable command structures to ensure cohesive operations.
Roadmap for Future Challenges
During his address, the CDS called for a strategic roadmap aimed at effectively addressing emerging challenges. This roadmap should promote technological advancements, cognitive resilience, and collective preparedness through collaborative efforts. He asserted that preparations against potential threats must be rooted in foresight, innovation, and a unified national defense philosophy.
General Chauhan underscored the critical importance of operational readiness and resilience in facing evolving security challenges. He urged all ranks within the Chinar Corps to strive for operational excellence and to embrace a culture of jointness, preparing to tackle the full spectrum of future conflicts.
Engagement with Local Leadership
In addition to discussions with military personnel, he engaged with representatives from the Civil Administration and local leaders in Baramulla. This interaction allowed for a review of ongoing efforts aimed at nation-building initiatives in the region.
The visit by General Chauhan underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to adapting to the changing dynamics of warfare while fostering collaboration with civil authorities for comprehensive development.
