In the past, a total of 160 runs was considered competitive, while now, high-scoring matches have become the norm. The IPL has become a central hub for cricket, testing players’ skills and contributing to the sport’s global growth.
Pandey also acknowledges the importance of the IPL in the context of international selection. “We always dream of playing for India, and tournaments like IPL are crucial,” he stated. He has been fortunate to perform consistently, which has kept him in the selectors’ radar. His pivotal innings in the 2014 IPL final, where he scored 95 runs, was a turning point in his career, leading to his inclusion in the Indian national team. “IPL has been very kind to me, giving me the chance to handle pressure while enjoying the game,” he concluded, reflecting on the lasting impact of the tournament on his career.
