Government Clarifies LPG Refill Booking Timeline, Assures Adequate Stock Availability
The Indian government has firmly dismissed rumors regarding changes to the LPG refill booking timelines, asserting that the current system remains unchanged. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas emphasized that misinformation circulating on social media is misleading and urged citizens to rely on official sources. The government reassured the public that there is no need for panic, as the country has sufficient LPG supplies to meet demand.
Government’s Clarification on LPG Booking Timelines
In response to the circulating rumors, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas clarified that the existing LPG refill booking timelines are still in effect. Currently, the timelines are set at 25 days for urban areas and 45 days for rural areas, regardless of the type of connection. The ministry reiterated that no changes have been made to this system and urged the public not to believe or spread misinformation. They emphasized that adequate LPG stocks are available nationwide, alleviating concerns about potential shortages. Citizens are encouraged to avoid unnecessary panic-driven bookings and to trust only verified information from official channels.
Indian Oil Corp’s Assurance
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd has also addressed the situation, confirming that reports suggesting alterations to LPG refill booking timelines are incorrect. The company stated that the timelines remain unchanged, with 25 days for urban areas and 45 days for rural areas. They reassured consumers that LPG supplies are adequate across the country. The corporation echoed the ministry’s call for the public to rely on official sources and avoid panic. This collaborative effort between the government and oil companies aims to maintain public confidence in the LPG supply chain.
Fuel Supply Stability Amid Middle East Tensions
As tensions in the Middle East continue, concerns about fuel supply and pricing have emerged. However, Sujata Sharma, joint secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has assured the public that the country maintains adequate reserves of petroleum products. She highlighted that refineries are operating at high capacity with sufficient crude inventories. The domestic production of LPG has also been increased to meet demand. Sharma acknowledged that misinformation had caused confusion and panic buying in some areas, but the ministry has taken steps to address these rumors promptly.
Encouraging PNG Connections
In addition to addressing LPG concerns, the ministry is promoting the adoption of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. Sharma reported that approximately 7,500 domestic and commercial PNG connections were established in a single day across 110 geographical areas. She noted that there are about 60 lakh households identified as potential candidates for PNG connections. The ministry encourages eligible users to consider switching to PNG as a reliable energy source, further enhancing the country’s energy security.
