The Bharat Pavilion debuted at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) 2026, showcasing India’s expanding influence in the global media and entertainment scene. This initiative serves as a vital platform for fostering international relationships, facilitating business exchanges, and enhancing industry collaborations.

Shri Rajesh Naik, the Consul General of India in Hong Kong and Macau SARs, officially inaugurated the Pavilion. He emphasized India’s dedication to strengthening collaborations across the film, television, and emerging media sectors. His remarks acknowledged the robust participation of the Indian delegation, illustrating the rising global interest in India’s vibrant Media & Entertainment ecosystem.

Collaborative Efforts Behind the Pavilion

The Bharat Pavilion is the result of a partnership between the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), part of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), operating under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. The initiative is further supported by the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong & Macau SARs. The inauguration saw the participation of senior officials from SEPC and NFDC, alongside representatives from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

Diverse Showcasing of Indian Content

The Pavilion displayed a rich variety of India’s content and production capabilities across films, television, animation, and emerging media. It facilitated business-to-business meetings, discussions on co-productions, and networking opportunities with international stakeholders. Additionally, a panel discussion took place to delve into the impacts of films and the emerging potentials in the global content marketplace, where industry experts shared insights on changing market dynamics and cross-border cooperation.

Future Initiatives and Events

The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) continues to play a pivotal role in promoting India at major global film markets. This includes opportunities for co-productions, market access, and distribution avenues for Indian creators.

The Pavilion also announced key initiatives led by the NFDC, including the upcoming Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) and the WAVES Doc Bazaar, both set to commence on June 15, 2026, at the NFDC campus in Mumbai. These events will focus primarily on documentaries, animation, and short films. Furthermore, it highlighted India’s prominent platforms, including the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and the WAVES Film Bazaar, scheduled for November 2026 in Goa.

Positioning India Globally

The Bharat Pavilion encapsulates a coordinated effort by the Government of India to blend policy, industry, and global outreach. It seeks to establish India as a significant partner in the ever-evolving global media and entertainment landscape.
