Government Launches Retirement Workshop to Support Pensioners

In a bid to enhance the ‘Ease of Living’ for pensioners and their families, the Government of India is taking progressive strides in pension policy and digitization. Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, is set to inaugurate the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop on February 23, 2026, at the Administrative Staff College in Guwahati, Assam. This initiative is a part of ongoing efforts by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) to support retiring employees.

The Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshops, organized with collaboration from various Central Government Departments and Ministries, aim to assist retiring employees during their transition to pensioner status. By offering essential information about retirement benefits and various pension-related processes, the workshops serve as a helpful guide for those on the verge of retirement. Topics will include valuable sessions focused on CGHS, Cyber Security, investment modes, the BHAVISHYA portal, the Integrated Pensioners Portal, family pensions, and more.

Approximately 350 retiring employees, currently posted in Assam and expecting to retire within the next year, are anticipated to benefit from this workshop. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to make life easier for its pensioners by equipping them with the knowledge they need at this significant life change.

Banking Awareness Program and Exhibition

In addition to the PRC, the DoPPW is organizing a Bankers’ Awareness Program in partnership with State Bank of India. This program aims to educate pension disbursing banks about various rules and procedures associated with pension matters relevant to central government employees.

Participants of the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop will also have the opportunity to attend an exhibition featuring several pension disbursing banks. These banks will showcase their best products related to pension services, ensuring that retirees have access to all necessary banking services. The banks will also provide guidance to retirees on opening pension accounts and investing their pension funds wisely.

This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s dedication to facilitating a seamless transition for its retiring employees, ensuring that they are well-informed and supported as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
