Competition Commission Approves Amundi’s Acquisition of ICG Plc
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has given the green light for a strategic acquisition involving Amundi Asset Management S.A.S., a French joint-stock company, and ICG Plc, an alternative asset management firm. This significant move allows Amundi to acquire 4.64% of the voting share capital of ICG through an on-market purchase. In addition, Amundi will have the right to appoint a director to ICG’s board and is set to further subscribe to non-voting instruments representing up to 5.26% of ICG’s capital.

Currently, Amundi does not have a direct operational presence in India; however, it maintains an indirect foothold through a minority joint venture with SBI Funds Management Limited. This joint venture is quite active and provides essential asset management services such as mutual fund products, portfolio management, and alternative investment funds.
ICG Plc’s Operations
On the other hand, ICG Plc, the target of this acquisition, is an established alternative asset management company. It operates across five key asset classes globally, including structured capital solutions for private companies, investments in private equity assets, real assets, private debt, and engagement in both primary and secondary credit markets.
