As Seetaram attempted to slow down while merging onto an exit ramp, the truck accelerated instead, crashing into a guardrail and rolling over. Emergency responders had to extract the couple from the vehicle, and both were subsequently hospitalized, with Seetaram requiring surgery. In court filings, Padmalaya claimed that the truck “went out of control,” prompting questions about the reliability of Ford’s BlueCruise system.
Ford’s BlueCruise technology is designed to allow hands-free driving by managing speed and steering.
