Current Gold Prices: 22K and 24K Gold Rates in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Other Cities

Precious metal prices experienced a significant decline in India on Friday, as investors opted to book profits for the second consecutive day. Silver prices plummeted nearly 5%, while gold also saw a notable drop. According to the All India Sarafa Association, silver fell by Rs 13,000 to Rs 2,55,000 per kilogram, and gold of 99.9% purity decreased by Rs 3,400 to Rs 1,57,200 per 10 grams. Despite a recovery in global bullion prices later in the day, domestic prices remained under pressure.

Market Trends and Price Movements

The recent downturn in precious metal prices in India is attributed to profit-taking by investors. Following a period of elevated prices, traders noted that the domestic market reacted sharply, leading to a decline in both gold and silver prices. Silver, which had been trading at Rs 2,68,000 per kilogram, saw a drop of 4.85%, bringing it down to Rs 2,55,000 per kilogram. Similarly, gold prices fell from Rs 1,60,600 to Rs 1,57,200 per 10 grams, marking a decrease of 2.12%. This trend reflects a broader market sentiment where investors are cautious amid fluctuating global prices.

In the international markets, however, bullion prices rebounded after an initial sell-off. Spot silver prices surged by $3.02, or 4.26%, reaching $74 per ounce after hitting a low of $64.08 per ounce earlier in the day. Gold also made a strong recovery, climbing $106.74, or 2.23%, to $4,887.30 per ounce after dipping to a session low of $4,654.86. This contrast between domestic and international markets highlights the complexities of precious metal trading.

Gold Prices Across Major Indian Cities

Gold prices vary across major cities in India, reflecting local market conditions. In Ahmedabad, the price for 24-carat gold is set at Rs 15,447 per gram, while 22-carat gold is available for Rs 14,160 per gram. In Delhi, prices are slightly higher, with 24-carat gold priced at Rs 15,457 per gram and 22-carat gold at Rs 14,170 per gram.

Mumbai’s gold market shows similar trends, with 24-carat gold priced at Rs 15,442 per gram and 22-carat gold at Rs 14,155 per gram. In Hyderabad, the prices mirror those in Mumbai, maintaining consistency across these major markets. Chennai, however, stands out with higher rates; 24-carat gold is priced at Rs 15,622 per gram, while 22-carat gold costs Rs 14,320 per gram. Kolkata and Pune also reflect similar pricing to Mumbai, with 24-carat gold at Rs 15,442 per gram.

Investor Sentiment and Future Outlook

The recent fluctuations in gold and silver prices have left investors cautious. The sharp declines in domestic prices, despite a recovery in international markets, indicate a complex interplay of local and global factors. Traders suggest that profit-taking at elevated levels has contributed significantly to the current market dynamics.

Looking ahead, the outlook for precious metals remains uncertain. Investors are likely to keep a close watch on global market trends, as any significant changes could impact domestic prices. The recovery in international bullion prices may offer some hope for stabilization, but the immediate sentiment in the Indian market appears to be one of caution. As the market adjusts, investors will need to navigate these fluctuations carefully to make informed decisions.
