Defence Secretary Visits Bhuj to Review Military Advancements

In a significant move to strengthen India’s defense capabilities, Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh visited the forward areas in the Creek Sector of Bhuj, Gujarat, on February 4-5, 2026. His visit focused on engaging with key military leaders and evaluating ongoing initiatives aimed at transforming the Indian Army into a more technologically advanced and combat-ready force.
During his trip, Singh met with Lt. General Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, along with other senior personnel from the Konark Corps. The discussions revolved around the Indian Army’s Decade of Transformation roadmap, which emphasizes the need for multi-domain operations and enhanced operational readiness.
Joint Control Centre and Multi-Agency Exercises
A highlight of the visit was Singh’s tour of the Joint Control Centre, which is a collaborative effort involving the Tri-Services, Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force (BSF), and various security agencies. This center plays a crucial role in integrating multiple sensor inputs from the region, aiming to provide a comprehensive surveillance picture that enhances situational awareness for ground commanders.
Furthermore, the Defence Secretary observed a multi-agency capability exercise named ‘TATRAKSHA’. This exercise demonstrated the effective cooperation of various branches of the Indian military, including the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and allied security forces in conducting coastal and amphibious operations. The drill showcased real-time surveillance, precision strikes, and joint logistics capabilities, all critical for addressing maritime and border threats.
Symbol of Unity and Strengthening Ties
In a symbolic gesture of national pride, Singh inaugurated the Monumental Flag in the border region. This flag serves as a representation of unity and resilience. Additionally, he witnessed operational displays of advanced weapon systems, underlining India’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities.
Singh’s visit further reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fostering jointness, improving military infrastructure, promoting indigenisation, and developing future-ready armed forces equipped with the latest technology. This ongoing transformation aims to ensure that the Indian Armed Forces are not only resilient but also ready to meet any challenges on both national and international fronts.
