Order Meals from Swiggy Directly Through ChatGPT and Gemini

Swiggy has unveiled an innovative feature that allows users in India to order food, purchase groceries, and book restaurant tables without needing to open its app. By leveraging popular AI chat platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini, customers can now interact with Swiggy’s services through simple text messages. This new functionality aims to streamline the ordering process, making it more convenient for users to access Swiggy Food, Instamart, and Dineout.

Order Food with a Simple Chat

With the latest update, Swiggy users can place food orders by sending straightforward text requests in a chat window. This eliminates the need to navigate through menus or switch between different applications. Instead, users can simply describe their desired meal, and the AI assistant will handle the rest, utilizing Swiggy’s system to fulfill the request.

This feature operates through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which enables secure, real-time connections between AI tools and Swiggy’s platforms. Once linked, the AI can comprehend user requests and manage the entire process, from searching for options to completing the checkout. For food delivery, users can type commands such as ordering a specific dish or selecting meals based on ratings. The AI will sift through available choices on Swiggy, add selected items to the cart, apply any available discounts, confirm delivery details, and finalize the order. Additionally, users can request the assistant to track their delivery after the order is placed.

Instamart grocery orders are also facilitated through this chat feature. Users can instruct the AI to compile a shopping list, order items for special occasions, or select products based on specific recipes. Swiggy has announced that Instamart now offers over 40,000 products through this chat-based system, making it the first quick-commerce platform to implement MCP at such a scale.

Book a Table with AI

The new functionality extends to dining services as well. Through Dineout, users can engage with the AI to find restaurants, check table availability, apply promotional offers, and make reservations—all within the same conversation. This integration simplifies the dining experience, allowing users to manage their restaurant bookings seamlessly.

To utilize this feature, users must first link their Swiggy services within their chosen AI application. This process involves accessing the settings section, adding a custom connector, and entering the specific Swiggy link for food delivery, Instamart, or Dineout. Once the setup is complete, users can easily place orders using chat commands.

Swiggy emphasizes that this initiative reflects the increasing reliance on conversational tools for everyday planning and decision-making. While the traditional Swiggy app will continue to function as usual, the introduction of this new option provides users with an additional method to accomplish daily tasks through a single chat interface.
