New Virtual Reality Theatre and Space Exhibition Set to Launch in Delhi

The National Science Centre (NSC) in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, is all set to unveil a cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) Theatre along with a captivating panel exhibition titled “From Earth to Orbit: Exploring Space Together” on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM. This event promises to offer visitors an enriching experience, merging technology with the wonders of space exploration.

Inauguration Details

The inauguration of the VR Theatre, designed for immersive learning, will be officiated by Shri D. K. Singh, the Director of the Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC) at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The ceremony will also feature Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla, Indian Astronaut and the Mission Pilot of the AXIOM-4 Mission, as the esteemed Guest of Honour. Additional dignitaries include Dr. Rama Jayasunder, Professor and Head of the NMR Department at AIIMS in New Delhi, who also chairs the Executive Committee of the National Science Centre.

Interactive Learning Experience

On the same day, the NSC will open the panel exhibition “From Earth to Orbit: Exploring Space Together” to the public. This exhibition aims to educate visitors about India’s contributions to space exploration and the collaborative efforts in this vital field.

A highlight of the event will be an exclusive interactive session titled “Meet the Astronaut.” Approximately 400 school students will have the opportunity to engage with Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla as he shares his remarkable experiences of human spaceflight and participation in international missions. This interaction aims to motivate the younger generation by showcasing India’s expanding role in space exploration and global scientific collaboration.

Engaging Young Minds

As the Mission Pilot of AXIOM-4, Group Captain Shukla has reached significant milestones within India’s space endeavors by conducting innovative microgravity experiments alongside an international crew. This not only enhances India’s scientific standing but also promotes international cooperation in space research.

During the interactive session, students will gain invaluable insights into the challenges and sensations of life in space. They will also participate in a lively Q&A segment regarding future space missions and potential career paths in the aerospace sector. This initiative seeks to cultivate a scientific mindset through experiential learning and direct interaction with leading experts in the field.
