Indian Army Celebrates Valor and Dedication on Army Day
In a momentous celebration marking the 78th Indian Army Day in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh praised the indomitable spirit and dedication of the Indian Armed Forces during his address. He lauded the recently implemented Operation Sindoor as a significant military endeavor symbolizing India’s courage, strength, and commitment to humanitarian values in the face of global challenges.
Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the soldiers’ exceptional bravery and rapid response against terrorism, stating, “The terrorists could never have anticipated our forces’ quick and courageous actions.” He noted that the restraint and unity displayed by the soldiers during the challenging situation were commendable, reinforcing the operation’s ongoing importance in eradicating terrorist ideologies.
Focus on Self-Reliance and Indigenous Production
During his address, the Defense Minister emphasized the critical role of self-reliance in defense, asserting that it has become a necessity rather than merely a point of national pride. He revealed that domestic defense production has seen a remarkable increase from ₹46,000 crore in 2014 to a historic ₹1.51 lakh crore today. Additionally, defense exports, previously below ₹1,000 crore, have soared to approximately ₹24,000 crore.
Rajnath Singh acknowledged the Indian Army’s motto of ensuring soldiers are not only physically fit but also technologically adept, saying, “In a world where traditional concepts are constantly being challenged, it is vital to modernize our Armed Forces and ensure their self-reliance.”
Unity in Diversity and Global Peacekeeping
The Defense Minister portrayed the Indian Army as a monument of unwavering sacrifice and unity in diversity, where soldiers of various backgrounds work together towards a common objective. He stated that the Army plays a significant role in fostering social unity and acts as a powerful pillar of nation-building. Furthermore, he praised the troops’ contributions to United Nations Peacekeeping Missions, which not only maintain peace but also provide essential humanitarian aid across the globe.
Commitment to Veterans and Women’s Empowerment
Reiterating the government’s dedication to the welfare of veterans, he recognized their sacrifices for the nation. He also spoke about increasing opportunities for women within the Armed Forces, citing the recent policy changes that have allowed women to join the Army in permanent commission roles and enroll in the National Defence Academy.
In a call to the youth, Shri Rajnath Singh encouraged them to consider a career in the Armed Forces, emphasizing that qualities such as moral courage and leadership are essential for service. He highlighted the collective responsibility of citizens to support soldiers’ families and maintain national unity.
The celebration included a spectacular program, _Shaurya Sandhya_, showcasing the valor and operational readiness of the Army, enhanced by military displays and performances. A memorable enactment of Operation Sindoor concluded the event, featuring an impressive drone display that captivated the audience.
The evening also marked the virtual launch of 50 NAMAN centres aimed at supporting veterans and their families, a significant step to streamline pension services and provide comprehensive assistance for Army personnel and their kin.
Attendees included prominent dignitaries such as the Governor of Rajasthan, Chief of Defence Staff, and various senior Army officials, alongside members of the community, all united in honoring the dedication and sacrifices of the Indian Army.
