Massive Drug Seizure: 270 kg of Mephedrone Taken Off Streets
In a significant triumph against drug trafficking, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has successfully seized **270 kilograms** of Mephedrone, a synthetic narcotic, during an extensive operation conducted across multiple states on January 11-12, 2026. The drugs were cleverly hidden within chicken feed to disguise their transport, showcasing a new strategy adopted by smugglers to escape detection.
Acting on reliable intelligence, DRI officers halted a truck in **Rajasthan** that appeared to be carrying agricultural products. Upon thorough investigation, the officers uncovered the concealed Mephedrone, valued at an astonishing Rs. 81 crore in the illegal trade. The operation led to the immediate arrest of the truck’s driver, as well as accomplices who were escorting the cargo.
Key Arrests and Follow-Up Operations
Subsequent searches throughout various locations in **Haryana** resulted in the capture of additional key members of the trafficking syndicate. These individuals played vital roles in the production and distribution of the seized narcotics. Authorities also discovered raw materials in a dismantled secret facility used for manufacturing drugs.

Continued Anti-Drug Efforts
Within the current financial year of 2025-2026, the DRI has already shut down six unlawful factories that were illegally producing Mephedrone, Alprazolam, and Methamphetamine.
- Mephedrone: Seized in Latur (April 2025), Bhopal (August 2025), and Wardha (December 2025).
- Alprazolam: Discovered in Vapi (November 2025) and Hyderabad (October 2025).
- Methamphetamine: Found in Greater Noida (October 2025).
