Government Unveils ‘Inspiring Innovators’ Initiative in India
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, along with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, launched the ‘Inspiring Innovators – Naye Bharat Ki Nayi Pehchaaan’ initiative today. This innovative program, developed in partnership with the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity and implemented by Graphiti Studios, aims to amalgamate India’s creative and innovation sectors to foster social impact through storytelling and practical skills training.
At the heart of this initiative lies the showcase of eight Indian start-ups, recognized by the Office of the PSA for their contributions to social innovation. These start-ups have been brought to life through eight short animated films, crafted by talented students from various prestigious universities across the country, such as the National Institute of Design and Chitkara University. The voiceovers for these films were skillfully performed by participants of the Voicebox project, a skilling program instituted by Netflix in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation.
Empowering Future Innovators
Designed as a storytelling and skill-building program, ‘Inspiring Innovators’ offers hands-on creative experiences to a diverse group of 26 students, half of whom are women, many of whom hail from Tier-2 cities in India. Students benefitted from the mentorship of industry experts from the National Institute of Design and Graphiti Studios, gaining invaluable insights into real-world processes in the creative sector.
The initiative also incorporated an original anthem performed by students from the Shankar Mahadevan Academy, further enriching the cultural tapestry of the program.
Voices of Leadership
During the launch event, Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, emphasized the significance of storytelling in amplifying Indian narratives to a global audience. He stated, “Our creators today have the opportunity to take Indian stories to global audiences, supported by the Government’s efforts to strengthen intellectual property frameworks and enable a future-ready creative ecosystem.” He highlighted that this initiative reflects the evolving landscape of storytelling shaped by technology and innovation.
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Adviser, reiterated the program’s aim to connect innovation with social relevance, enhancing skills and knowledge while fostering creativity in India’s youth. He noted, “By bringing together start-ups and students through a creative process, the initiative exemplifies a comprehensive approach to building India’s innovation ecosystem.”
Celebrating Social Impact
Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, remarked on India’s emergence as a hub for social innovation, stating, “Inspiring Innovators stands out as a powerful example of how storytelling can evolve beyond content creation into meaningful skilling and empowerment.” He expressed optimism for a future where India’s innovative narratives reach audiences worldwide.
Mahima Kaul, Director of Global Affairs at Netflix India, stressed Netflix’s commitment to nurturing the country’s dynamic creative landscape through initiatives like ‘Inspiring Innovators’, which highlights innovation that creates substantial social value.

The initiative also features ‘Manthan’, a digital platform that connects impactful innovations with scaling opportunities. The short films produced under this initiative include stories of significant social innovations such as:
