Educational Reforms Planned in Samagra Shiksha 3.0 Consultation

New Delhi witnessed a significant gathering on Friday as Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, led a day-long consultation meeting focused on the innovative roadmap for Samagra Shiksha 3.0, aptly titled ‘Reimagining Samagra Shiksha.’ The event, held at the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, aimed at shaping a strategic and effective plan by engaging with various stakeholders, including representatives from states and union territories, to tackle the pressing issues in the education system.
During the consultation, attendees engaged in collaborative discussions that highlighted emerging challenges, the sharing of best practices, and the necessary interventions needed to enhance governance, infrastructure, teacher training, and student rights for the next phase of the initiative. The conference notably included participation from Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Education, among other esteemed representatives from the education sector.
Highlighting the government’s vision for the future, Minister Pradhan stressed the importance of achieving 100% enrolment up to Class XII and ensuring that every child in India has access to quality education. He reiterated that addressing learning gaps, reducing dropout rates, and enhancing student nutrition and learning outcomes were collective responsibilities vital for building strong human capital in the nation.
Moreover, he emphasized that the ideas brought forth during this consultation would play a pivotal role in creating an outcome-oriented and globally competitive education system that caters to the diverse needs of students. “We must return our schools back to society,” he stated, underscoring the value of community involvement in educational developments.
As the nation looks forward to the next phase of Samagra Shiksha, which aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Minister Pradhan called for the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders to draft a comprehensive plan for the academic year 2026-27. He believes this unified approach is crucial for implementing robust educational reforms that resonate with national development goals.
During the meeting, Shri Jayant Chaudhary acknowledged that successful educational schemes thrive through a bottom-up approach that reflects the reality of schools. He outlined that Samagra Shiksha 3.0 embodies this philosophy, naturally integrating skilling and vocational pathways within a multidisciplinary educational framework to prepare students for the demands of the modern workforce.
A detailed presentation by Shri Dheeraj Sahu, Additional Secretary for School Education & Literacy, was a key highlight of the meeting. It showcased the advancements made under Samagra Shiksha and NEP 2020, outlining future frameworks and milestones that focus on improving access, equity, quality, teacher training, digital education, and outcome-based learning.
The Samagra Shiksha initiative represents a substantial shift toward a holistic education system, encompassing all levels of schooling from pre-primary to senior secondary without segmentation, reinforcing the government’s commitment to transforming India’s educational landscape.
