SECL Partners to Boost Healthcare Skills in Chhattisgarh
In a significant move to enhance healthcare services and employability in Chhattisgarh, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust. This partnership aims to establish a Healthcare Skill Development Centre at Nava Raipur, supported by an investment of ₹35.04 crore as part of SECL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The newly proposed centre will focus on providing free skill-based training to socio-economically disadvantaged youth in critical healthcare areas, such as nursing assistance, technical support, and other allied health professions. The objective of this initiative is not only to improve job prospects for the region’s youth but also to strengthen healthcare service delivery in underprivileged communities.
Free Training for Local Youth
The facility will include several essential amenities, such as academic blocks, hostels, staff housing, and other supportive infrastructure. In a bid to empower local communities, preference will be given to applicants from SECL’s operational districts, reserving at least 20 percent of annual admissions for these areas over a commitment period of 25 years, which can be extended based on performance metrics.
The MoU was formalized in the presence of key SECL officials, including Biranchi Das, Director (HR), along with C. M. Verma, General Manager (CSR), and Vivek Narayan Gour, Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust, who executed the agreement.
Continuing a Commitment to Health
This new initiative further expands the collaboration between SECL and the Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust, who have previously partnered under the ‘SECL Ki Dhadkan’ program. This flagship healthcare initiative is dedicated to providing free corrective surgeries for children with congenital heart disease, having already successfully completed over 180 life-saving procedures. This program is crucial in enhancing access to essential healthcare services for disadvantaged families living in coalfield areas.

SECL has demonstrated its commitment to the social development of communities it serves, contributing over ₹850 crore to various CSR initiatives across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. These efforts cover vital sectors such as healthcare, education, skill development, and community welfare.
With the establishment of the Healthcare Skill Development Centre, SECL is taking further steps to enhance inclusive growth, skills development, and sustainable progress in Chhattisgarh.
