AI Translation Tool Showcased at TiE Global Summit 2026
The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) made its mark at the 10th TiE Global Summit in Jaipur, held on January 4-5, 2026. Partnering with the Department of Information Technology and Communication of the Government of Rajasthan, the summit highlighted groundbreaking technology through the live demonstration of Shrutlekh, a sophisticated AI-powered speech-to-text and multilingual translation tool.
During the event’s inauguration, Shrutlekh showcased its capabilities by providing real-time multilingual translations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from the AI Action Summit in Paris. This feature ensured that the Prime Minister’s insights on responsible and inclusive AI reached a diverse audience effectively, breaking down language obstacles that often hinder communication.
Enhancing Communication at the Summit
Shrutlekh played a crucial role throughout key sessions of the Summit, including the welcome address from the IT Secretary of Rajasthan and a speech from the Cabinet Minister. The tool facilitated real-time speech recognition and transcription, offering seamless English-to-Hindi translations through its innovative Auto Language Detection (ALD) feature. This live presentation illustrated how language AI can adapt to speakers who switch languages, significantly reducing communication barriers and promoting inclusivity at public forums.
Empowering Conversations on Women’s Leadership
On January 5, Shrutlekh further contributed to multilingual access during a vital discussion titled “Leadership Beyond Labels: Women, Power & Public Service.” Former Union Minister Smt. Smriti Irani addressed the importance of empowering women-led micro-enterprises. Thanks to real-time translation, attendees could engage meaningfully, regardless of their linguistic backgrounds.
Driving Inclusion Through Data and Collaboration
In a panel discussion titled “From Maps to Markets: Building Technology Platforms That Power Everyday India,” Amitabh Nag, CEO of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, emphasized the significance of data collection to foster scalable and inclusive AI systems in the country. He stated, “High-quality, diverse, and representative language data is foundational for developing accurate speech and translation models.” Nag discussed the need for collaborative efforts from governments, academic institutions, startups, and citizens to create and ingest the necessary data.
Nag highlighted their initial focus on governance and service delivery through voice-enabled multilingual communication. As the agenda expands, partnerships with enterprises aim to enhance supply chains and logistics while improving customer engagement via language technologies. He also stressed the importance of education, advocating for large-scale translations of educational material to enable learning in students’ native languages.
The TiE Global Summit 2026 has strengthened collaboration with the Government of Rajasthan and various ecosystem stakeholders. The event served as a vital platform for discussing the future of language technologies, exploring avenues for language data creation, and advancing inclusive digital governance initiatives throughout the state.
