ASI Launches Online Ticket Booking for Iconic Monuments
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), operating under the Ministry of Culture, has taken a significant step to enhance visitor experience by introducing online ticket booking for more than 170 centrally protected monuments and museums. This new feature is accessible via the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), marking a transformative effort to promote digital access to India’s rich cultural heritage.
This initiative is designed to simplify the ticket purchasing process for both domestic and international tourists, making it easier than ever to visit some of India’s most treasured heritage sites and museums. By harnessing the capabilities of the ONDC network, the ASI aims to boost convenience and improve the overall efficiency of public services.
Benefits of Online Ticket Booking
Users can now book their tickets through various digital platforms, eliminating the need for physical queues at ticket counters. This means visitors can enjoy a faster and smoother entry experience when exploring historic monuments and museums across the country. Additionally, those booking tickets through ONDC-enabled applications will continue to benefit from existing discounts: a ₹5 markdown for Indian visitors and a ₹50 reduction for foreign nationals.
Technical Integration and Accessibility
The onboarding of ASI’s extensive inventory of monuments and museums onto the ONDC Network has been facilitated by NDML (NSDL Database Management Limited). This technical collaboration ensures that the ticketing system operates seamlessly within an interoperable digital framework, enhancing accessibility for all users.
Currently, tickets can be purchased through various platforms such as Highway Delite, which is available on web, Android, and iOS; Pelocal, which offers a WhatsApp-based ticketing experience accessed by messaging a designated number; and Abhee by Mondee, also available on Android and iOS. Furthermore, several other consumer-friendly applications are in the pipeline to join the ONDC Network, promising even greater accessibility in the near future.
