Air Marshal Tejinder Singh Assumes Command at South Western Air Command

On January 1, 2026, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh officially took over the reins as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the South Western Air Command. In a solemn ceremony following his appointment, he paid tribute to the martyrs at the war memorial, honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Air Marshal Tejinder Singh is a distinguished alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on June 13, 1987. With a wealth of experience, he is a Category ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor, boasting over 4,500 hours of flight time. His extensive training includes stints at the Defence Service Staff College and the National Defence College, which have prepared him for the numerous leadership roles he has undertaken throughout his career.

In his illustrious career, Air Marshal Singh has commanded various pivotal positions, including a Fighter Squadron, a Radar Station, and a premier Fighter Base. He notably served as the Air Officer Commanding in Jammu and Kashmir, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership under significant operational pressures. His diverse experience also encompasses several staff roles, such as Operational Staff at a Command Headquarters, Air Commodore (Personnel Officers-I) at Air Headquarters, and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff at Air HQ (Vayu Bhawan).

Prior to his latest appointment, Air Marshal Singh held the position of AOC-in-C for the Training Command of the IAF, contributing significantly to the advancement of IAF training protocols and personnel readiness.

His commendable service has not gone unnoticed. In recognition of his dedication and exemplary performance, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022, both honors conferred by the Hon’ble President of India. These accolades reflect his commitment and contributions to maintaining the operational readiness of the Indian Air Force.
