Vice-President Celebrates Culture at Trivandrum Fest 2025
Thiruvananthapuram witnessed a vibrant celebration today as India’s Vice-President, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, took part in the Trivandrum Fest 2025, marking the joyous Christmas-New Year Peace Carnival organized by the South Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India in collaboration with the Assembly of Christian Trust Services.
During his address at the festival, the Vice-President characterized the event as a lively tribute to creativity, culture, and community spirit, which reflects India’s rich civilizational heritage and its inclusive societal framework. He emphasized that such festivals play a pivotal role in showcasing the cultural and intellectual dynamism of the nation, reinforcing the significance of collective celebrations in fostering social unity.
Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan fondly referred to Kerala as “God’s Own Country,” celebrating not only its breathtaking landscapes and tranquil backwaters but also its robust social values, cultural richness, and a spirit of peaceful coexistence. He pointed out that Thiruvananthapuram represents a unique amalgamation of tradition and modernity, truly epitomizing India’s finest spirit where heritage and progression coexist in harmony.
Speaking on the essence of Christmas, he noted that its universal themes of goodwill and compassion extend beyond any single faith, promoting a celebratory environment for all who endeavor to create a humane and positive society.
Highlighting the inclusive nature of Trivandrum Fest, the Vice-President remarked that the celebration brings together individuals from various backgrounds and faiths, creating a communal space for joy, creativity, and dialogue. He stressed that festivals like these facilitate important discussions across diverse fields including art, literature, technology, entrepreneurship, and public policy.
Delving into India’s ongoing transformation, the Vice-President attributed the nation’s confident stride towards becoming Viksit Bharat to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He underscored that this progress is fueled by innovation, infrastructure development, digital empowerment, and inclusive growth. Additionally, he emphasized that cultural festivals, such as Trivandrum Fest, can play a significant role in nurturing creative economies, showcasing local talent, and enhancing India’s international soft power.
The festival drew a notable crowd, including dignitaries such as the Governor of Kerala, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar; Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Trivandrum, Most Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Netto; Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, Shri V. V. Rajesh; General Secretary of the Assembly of Christian Trust Services, Shri George Sebastian; Secretary of the CSI South Kerala Diocese, Dr. T. T. Praveen; and Chairman of Trivandrum Fest, Shri Baby Mathew Soma-theeram, along with various artists and representatives from social and cultural organizations.
