Emerging Technologies Ignite New Job Opportunities in India
The Technology and Skill Development Conference held on December 21, 2025, at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee NIELIT Extension Centre in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, spotlighted the transformative role of emerging technologies in fostering employment opportunities. Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Commerce & Industry, Shri Jitin Prasada, emphasized the impact of technologies such as drone technology, the Internet of Things (IoT), and cybersecurity in shaping a skilled workforce for the future.
As the Chief Guest at the conference, Prasada underscored the importance of aligning skill development initiatives with industry needs, a move he believes will pave the way for India to become a global leader in technology. He mentioned institutions like NIELIT as crucial links in this process, successfully bridging the gap between policy formulation and execution while extending technical education to remote and semi-urban areas.
Engaging the Youth
The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including Members of the Legislative Assembly, local officials, educators, startup entrepreneurs, and a vibrant crowd of students and local youth. One of the highlights was an exhibition featuring innovative drone-based solutions developed by startups. These drones showcased applications ranging from agricultural monitoring and pesticide spraying to disaster management and logistics, offering attendees a glimpse into the future of technology in everyday life.
Inauguration of the IoT Laboratory
During the conference, Minister Prasada inaugurated a cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) Laboratory at the NIELIT Pilibhit campus. This lab aims to equip students from Pilibhit and nearby regions with hands-on, industry-oriented training. Participants will gain practical experience in smart sensors, embedded systems, and real-time IoT applications, ultimately boosting their employability and technical skills.
The IoT Laboratory is poised to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among local youth. It will provide essential infrastructure and guidance for startups and innovators looking to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop
Additionally, the conference featured a special workshop on Cyber Security, covering critical topics such as cybercrime prevention, data privacy, and safe internet usage. This interactive session was well-received by students, government officials, and community members, raising awareness about secure online practices in a digital-first world.
Supplementary technical sessions and discussions provided further insights into emerging technologies and government initiatives aimed at enhancing skills in the electronics and IT sectors.
