New Digital Platform Showcases India’s Tribal Heritage
In a significant move to promote India’s rich tribal heritage, the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Shri Durgadas Uikey, announced the launch of the beta version of the “Adi Sanskriti” digital platform on September 10, 2025. This innovative platform aims to preserve, teach, and market various tribal art forms and cultural practices.
The Adi Sanskriti platform features an online marketplace named “Adi Haat,” which is integrated with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited. This integration is designed to enhance market access for products created by tribal artisans, offering them a viable path to both national and international sales opportunities. The initiative not only aims to create sustainable marketing avenues but also seeks to establish a recognized brand for tribal crafts.
Comprehensive Learning Resources
As part of its first phase, the Adi Sanskriti project offers a range of 45 immersive courses focused on diverse tribal art forms in its Adi Vishwavidyalaya section. In addition to these courses, nearly 3,000 carefully curated documents are available through the Adi Sampada section, focusing on the socio-cultural aspects of tribal heritage. Together, these resources are designed to safeguard and promote India’s tribal knowledge systems.
Future Developments and Initiatives
The overarching goal of the Adi Sanskriti initiative is to digitally archive and promote tribal art forms and practices, while also providing accessible learning opportunities for both tribal communities and the broader public. With the support of master artisans, the project aims to facilitate fair trade for artists and showcase India’s tribal diversity internationally through engaging experiences and digital outreach.
