The Tribal Business Conclave 2025 wrapped up today at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, New Delhi, featuring key figures such as Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal and Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram. This monumental event, which attracted over 250 tribal entrepreneurs from across the country, aimed to empower tribal communities and underline their critical role in India’s growth narrative.
Inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of State Shri Durgadas Uikey, the conclave was a tribute to the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda during Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh. The initiative was a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), and the Ministry of Culture, with support from industry partners like FICCI and PRAYOGI Foundation.
Celebrating Tribal Entrepreneurship
This year’s conclave showcased the resilience and creativity of India’s tribal communities, spotlighting their vital contributions to the national vision for Viksit Bharat @2047. The event featured 250 tribal businesses, 150 exhibitors, and more than 100 startups, all presenting innovative solutions at the “Roots to Rise” pitching platform, designed to connect directly with investors and government buyers.
Highlights from the Event
Throughout the conclave, engaging discussions took center stage, with six panel talks and four masterclasses hosted by more than 50 speakers from government, academia, and industry. Topics covered included Investment & Partnerships, Skilling & Empowerment, and Sustainability & Market Innovation. Buyer-seller meetings fostered new opportunities for market access and skill development tailored to tribal enterprises.
The cultural significance of the event was evident in the thematic pavilions and performances that underscored India’s rich tribal heritage. Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal emphasized the uplifting spirit of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, outlining initiatives like the support of 3,900 Van Dhan Kendras and a substantial budget increase for PM JANMAN Yojana, all focused on empowering tribal entrepreneurs.
Groundbreaking Initiatives
Several key announcements were made at the conclave, including the launch of the Gramya Yuva Arth Niti (GYAN) Lab, aimed at fostering interactive public policy development to support tribal and rural enterprises. Additionally, the Tribal Affairs Grand Challenge was introduced to solicit innovative solutions from startups for tribal communities, complete with mentorship and funding opportunities.
The “Roots to Rise” pitching session yielded impressive results, with 43 out of 115 selected enterprises being DPIIT-registered and significant investment interest generated for over 57 businesses. This initiative alone created approximately 1,500 jobs directly, affecting more than 20,000 tribal individuals across the country.
Future Prospects
The conclave’s emphasis on enhancing market access via the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and awarding Geographical Indication (GI) certificates to various tribal products marks a pivotal step toward increased brand value and global recognition for tribal craftsmen.
