Over 200,000 Users of This Power Bank Brand Warned of Fire Hazard, Amazon Customers Notified

A significant recall has been announced in the United States concerning a widely used portable power bank sold on Amazon. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has identified potential fire hazards associated with the INIU 10,000mAh power bank, model BI-B41. Customers who purchased this device between August 2021 and April 2022 are urged to check their units immediately and discontinue use if they fall within the affected batch.

Details of the Recall

The CPSC has reported that approximately 210,000 units of the INIU power bank are included in the recall. The lithium-ion battery within these devices poses a risk of overheating and igniting, leading to potential fire and burn hazards. The recall specifically targets units sold on Amazon during the specified timeframe. The affected power banks are identifiable by their black or blue color and the INIU logo, which features a paw-print LED light on the front.

Since the product’s release, there have been at least 15 documented incidents of overheating, including 11 fires. These incidents have resulted in minor burn injuries and property damage exceeding $380,000. The recall affects only those units with serial numbers 000G21, 000H21, 000I21, and 000L21. Customers are strongly advised to stop using these power banks immediately to ensure their safety.
