HUL and NITI Aayog Launch Initiative for Circular Economy Start-Ups

In a visionary collaboration, NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) have initiated a nationwide start-up acceleration program. This ambitious initiative is designed to promote India’s shift towards a circular economy, focusing primarily on innovative solutions for managing plastic waste.
Under HUL’s flagship initiative, Project Circular Bharat, the program aims to identify and nurture 50 promising start-ups over the next three years. The selected start-ups will focus on enhancing plastic circularity through solutions involving recycling, reuse, refill models, and next-generation packaging materials. However, the initiative is not limited to plastics alone; it will also support start-ups working on material recovery from various post-consumer waste streams, including textiles and e-waste.
Support and Opportunities for Start-Ups
Start-ups chosen for this program will receive invaluable mentorship from experienced business leaders, policy experts, and potential investors. Furthermore, participants may have the chance to secure grant funding and pilot opportunities to validate their market solutions. This partnership merges AIM’s policy-driven innovation approach with HUL’s extensive industry reach and Xynteo’s strategic expertise, aimed at accelerating pioneering solutions that facilitate the transition to a circular economy in India.
