Get Ready for the ISPL Season 3 Auction: 408 Players Set to Be Auctioned on December 9

The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) is gearing up for its highly anticipated Season 3 player auction, set to take place on December 9 in Mumbai. This season will feature 408 players from 101 cities across India, showcasing the tournament’s extensive reach and popularity. With an increased team purse of Rs 1.5 crore and expanded squad sizes, the league is introducing exciting new features, including the Googly Power mechanism and retention cards, aimed at enhancing the competitive landscape of the tournament.

Player Auction Details

The upcoming auction will see 408 players vying for a spot in one of the eight franchises. This includes 400 shortlisted players, among which are 30 promising under-19 talents. Each franchise will have the opportunity to select one scout pick from the registered pool, ensuring a diverse range of talent is available. Players will enter the auction with a base price of Rs 3 lakh and will be categorized into six zones: U-19, West, East, Central, South, and North. The introduction of the Googly Power feature allows teams to make sudden Rs 1 lakh bid increases during the auction, adding an exciting twist to the bidding process.

Franchises will also benefit from two Right to Match (RTM) cards each, enabling them to retain players from their Season 2 rosters by matching the highest bid during the auction. Teams are required to select a minimum of two players from each zone, including retained players, and must ensure that at least two U-19 players are part of their squad. This structure aims to promote youth involvement in the league while maintaining a competitive balance among teams.

Expanded Team Structures

This season marks a significant change in team structures, with squad sizes expanding from 16 to 18 players. This increase provides franchises with greater flexibility in team composition and strategy. Each team must include at least one U-19 player and one player from each zone in their playing XI for every match. Additionally, all 18 squad members are required to participate in at least one match during the season, ensuring that a wide array of talent gets exposure on the field.

The auction’s design reflects the league’s commitment to professionalism and transparency. With no maximum limit on player bids, franchise owners are encouraged to invest in talent that can elevate their teams. The excitement surrounding the auction is palpable, as teams prepare to make strategic decisions that could define their season.

Core Committee Insights

Members of the ISPL Core Committee, including Sachin Tendulkar and Ashish Shelar, have expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming season. Tendulkar emphasized the importance of the auction as a platform for emerging players to showcase their skills. He noted that the trials attracted participants from 101 cities, highlighting the diverse talent pool available this year. Shelar echoed this sentiment, stating that the response to Season 3 has been remarkable, with players demonstrating equal passion and ambition. He believes that the league’s growth reflects the trust it has earned across the country. The committee members are optimistic that this season will set new benchmarks in competitiveness and inclusivity, further solidifying the ISPL’s status in the cricketing landscape.
