Gold Prices Surge: Explore 24K and 22K Rates in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata

Gold prices experienced a notable increase on Tuesday in the futures market, buoyed by strong global signals and rising expectations of a potential interest rate cut by the U.S. Federal Reserve next month. This optimism, fueled by dovish remarks from key Fed officials, has led to a third consecutive session of gains for bullion. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), December gold futures rose by 1.18%, reaching Rs 1,25,312 per 10 grams, while silver futures also saw a significant uptick.

Market Performance and Trends

The surge in gold prices is largely attributed to the shifting sentiment surrounding U.S. monetary policy. Analysts noted that comments from Federal Reserve officials, particularly Governor Christopher Waller, have reinforced expectations for a rate cut in December. Waller’s remarks highlighted concerns about weakness in the labor market, which have contributed to a growing belief that the Fed may ease its monetary stance. As a result, market expectations for a 25-basis-point cut have surged to 81%, a significant increase from around 40% just a week prior.

In the international markets, December gold futures on Comex rose by 1.17%, reaching $4,142 per ounce, while silver prices climbed nearly 1.94% to $51.30 per ounce. Despite these gains, some analysts caution that the strength of the dollar index, which remains above the 100-mark, could limit further increases in gold prices. Additionally, there is a sense of cautious optimism regarding potential peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, which may also influence market dynamics.

City-wise Gold Prices

In India, gold prices have seen a consistent rise across major cities. In Bengaluru, the price of 24K gold is currently Rs 12,704 per gram, reflecting an increase of Rs 191 from the previous day. Similarly, 22K gold is priced at Rs 11,645, and 18K gold at Rs 9,528 per gram.

In Delhi, the rates are slightly higher, with 24K gold priced at Rs 12,719 per gram, while 22K and 18K gold are at Rs 11,660 and Rs 9,543, respectively. Mumbai mirrors Bengaluru’s prices, maintaining 24K gold at Rs 12,704 per gram.

Chennai reports the highest rates among these cities, with 24K gold priced at Rs 12,786 per gram, marking an increase of Rs 219. Other cities like Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad show similar trends, with 24K gold prices hovering around Rs 12,704 to Rs 12,709 per gram.

Factors Influencing Gold Prices

Several factors are currently influencing the gold market. The anticipation of U.S. economic data, including retail sales, Producer Price Index (PPI), and jobless claims, is creating a wait-and-see atmosphere among traders. These indicators are expected to provide clearer direction for bullion prices in the coming days.

Additionally, the ongoing geopolitical situation, particularly the potential for a resolution in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, is adding another layer of complexity to market dynamics. Traders are closely monitoring these developments, as they could significantly impact investor sentiment and demand for gold as a safe-haven asset.

As the market continues to react to these various influences, gold remains a focal point for investors seeking stability amid economic uncertainty. The interplay of domestic and international factors will likely dictate the trajectory of gold prices in the near future.
