Department of Commerce Concludes Special Campaign 5.0 for Efficiency and Clean Governance

The Department of Commerce in India has successfully wrapped up its Special Campaign 5.0, which ran from October 2 to October 31, 2025. This initiative aimed to address pending grievances, enhance workplace efficiency, and promote cleanliness within the department and its associated organizations. The campaign not only streamlined administrative processes but also focused on improving hygiene standards and ensuring timely resolution of issues.

Campaign Overview and Objectives

Special Campaign 5.0 was designed to tackle the backlog of pending references while fostering a culture of cleanliness and efficiency. The initiative was closely monitored by the Nodal Officer of the Department, ensuring that all targets were met effectively. Participation from officers across the Department and its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) was crucial for the campaign’s success. The campaign’s objectives included improving work efficiency, enhancing workplace management, and addressing grievances in a timely manner.

Achievements and Impact

During the campaign, a significant amount of administrative work was accomplished. A total of 88,385 files were reviewed, leading to the disposal of 46,255 files. Additionally, 277 cleanliness drives were organized, which not only improved the physical environment but also generated approximately ₹70 lakh in revenue from the disposal of e-waste and scrap. This initiative resulted in the release of 36,005 square feet of office space, showcasing the campaign’s effectiveness in optimizing resources.

Best Practices and Innovations

The campaign also introduced several best practices aimed at promoting sustainability and efficiency. Notable initiatives included the installation of electric vehicle charging points at the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. (ECGC) headquarters in Mumbai, as well as the implementation of rooftop solar power systems. Furthermore, efforts were made to enhance office premises through greenery development and improved parking facilities. Other significant actions included digitization of records, integrated solid waste management practices, and awareness drives on e-waste disposal.
