Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Activities During Special Campaign 5.0

Special Campaign 5.0, initiated by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), aims to reduce backlog in government offices with a strong emphasis on e-waste disposal. The campaign is structured in two phases: a Preparatory Phase from September 16 to September 30, 2025, followed by the Main Phase from October 2 to October 31, 2025. This initiative not only focuses on waste management but also includes a comprehensive cleanliness drive across various government departments and public spaces.

Comprehensive Cleanliness Drive

As part of Special Campaign 5.0, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has launched an extensive cleanliness initiative across its headquarters and affiliated offices nationwide. This drive includes tree planting and the cleaning of public areas, demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability. The department has also prioritized addressing public grievances, particularly those related to flagship schemes. To facilitate this, they have enhanced the existing Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) and established dedicated portals for flagship initiatives like PM KISAN and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). Regular meetings led by the Agriculture Minister aim to ensure effective resolution of farmers’ complaints, with guidance from the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.

Workshop on Public Grievances

On October 9, 2025, a workshop focused on public grievances and the Special Campaign 5.0 was successfully conducted by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in collaboration with DARPG. The event featured key addresses from the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and the Secretary of DARPG. This workshop served as a platform to discuss strategies for improving grievance redressal mechanisms and to share best practices among various subordinate and attached offices. The enthusiasm displayed by these offices during the campaign highlights their commitment to effective governance and public service.

Innovative Use of E-Waste

A significant aspect of Special Campaign 5.0 is the focus on the disposal of e-waste. The Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institutes have creatively repurposed e-waste materials to construct models of agricultural equipment, including drones, tractors, and cultivators. These innovative models were showcased during the workshop, receiving commendation from the Secretary of DARPG. This initiative not only promotes sustainable practices but also exemplifies the department’s commitment to turning waste into valuable resources, aligning with the “Waste to Wealth” philosophy.

Engagement on Social Media

Throughout the duration of Special Campaign 5.0, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has actively engaged with the public via social media. They have released five PIB notes and posted over 274 tweets across various platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. This outreach aims to keep the public informed about the campaign’s progress and achievements, fostering transparency and encouraging community involvement in government initiatives. The department’s proactive communication strategy reflects its dedication to enhancing public awareness and participation in governance.
