Global South Researchers Invited to Submit Posters for Research Symposium on AI and Its Impact at India-AI Impact Summit 2026
The upcoming ‘Research Symposium on AI and Its Impact’ is set to take place on February 18, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This event will coincide with the India-AI Impact Summit, scheduled for February 19-20, 2026. The symposium aims to gather prominent researchers and practitioners from India, the Global South, and the global community to discuss the implications of artificial intelligence, share innovative methodologies, and foster collaborations across research, policy, and practice. The Government of India officially announced this initiative on September 18, 2025.
Program Structure of the Symposium
The symposium will feature a well-structured program designed to facilitate meaningful discussions and knowledge sharing. It will include plenary sessions where distinguished Indian and international researchers will engage in high-level dialogues. These sessions aim to set the agenda for impactful and responsible AI development. Additionally, an International Research Showcase will highlight short presentations from globally recognized scholars, showcasing their leadership in AI research.
A special focus will be placed on the Global South, with an open call for poster presentations. This segment will spotlight innovative research from the Global South, particularly contributions from students and collaborative groups. The symposium seeks to create a platform for diverse voices and perspectives, ensuring that the research community from these regions is well-represented.
Call for Submissions
Researchers from the Global South are invited to submit proposals for the Global South Showcase. To be eligible, their papers must have been presented at leading AI conferences in 2024 or 2025. Interested participants should submit a poster proposal that includes an abstract and a link to their paper. The submission deadline is set for October 31, 2025, with notifications of acceptance expected by December 15, 2025. Final poster submissions will be due by January 5, 2026. Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary of MeitY and CEO of IndiaAI, emphasized the symposium’s role in bridging research, policy, and practice. He stated that the event would bring together diverse perspectives to shape actionable insights that align with India’s vision of “AI for All, AI for Good, and AI for the World.”
Prof. P.J. Narayanan from IIIT Hyderabad also highlighted the importance of the symposium, noting that it would gather key global and Indian research leaders to share their work and build future partnerships. He expressed confidence that India’s vibrant and inclusive research ecosystem is poised to take a leading role in advancing the global dialogue on responsible AI.
