Insights from the ILT20 Season 4 Player Auction: Discover the New Team Lineups

History was made at the inaugural ILT20 Player Auction, where West Indies cricketer Andre Fletcher emerged as the highest-paid player, securing a remarkable USD 260,000 to continue with MI Emirates for a fourth consecutive season. The auction showcased intense competition among franchises, eager to acquire both international stars and promising local talents. Fletcher’s impressive bid set a precedent for the event, highlighting the growing significance of the league in the cricketing world.

Key Signings and Auction Highlights

The ILT20 Player Auction witnessed a flurry of significant signings, with franchises eager to enhance their squads. Following Andre Fletcher’s record-setting bid, England’s Scott Currie was acquired by Dubai Capitals for USD 250,000, while Liam Dawson joined Gulf Giants for USD 170,000. The auction also celebrated local talent, as UAE pacers Junaid Siddique and Muhammad Rohid fetched USD 170,000 and USD 140,000, respectively, marking a pivotal moment for the UAE’s fast-bowling prospects.

MI Emirates, already fortified with a strong roster, further strengthened their lineup by adding Shakib Al Hasan for USD 40,000, Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq for USD 100,000, and England’s Jordan Thompson for USD 48,000. The team also included local players like Muhammad Rohid and Zahoor Khan, alongside international talents from Associate Nations, such as Nosthush Kenjige from the USA and Mohamed Shafeeq from Kuwait.

Franchise Strategies and Player Acquisitions

Dubai Capitals made headlines with their strategic investments, particularly in Scott Currie. They complemented their young star with seasoned players like Mohammad Nabi and Tymal Mills, each signed for USD 80,000. Their roster also featured local talents Farhan Khan and Muhammad Farooq, along with Associate Nation players Anudeep Chenthamara from Kuwait and Usman Najeeb from Saudi Arabia.

Gulf Giants completed their squad early, focusing on a diverse range of players. Their marquee signing, Liam Dawson, was supported by smart acquisitions like Tabraiz Shamsi and Fred Klaassen, each at USD 40,000. Additionally, UAE’s Haider Razzaq, recognized as the leading wicket-taker in the ILT20 Development Tournament, secured a senior deal worth USD 50,000, while Asif Khan added depth to their batting lineup.

Local Talent and Historic Moments

The auction also emphasized the importance of local and Associate Nation players, with teams required to include a minimum of four UAE players and representatives from other Associate Nations. This led to notable signings such as Haider Razzaq and Faisal Khan, the latter becoming the first Saudi Arabian cricketer to be bought at the auction for USD 10,000.

Sharjah Warriorz made a significant investment in seam bowling, acquiring Junaid Siddique for USD 170,000, along with Dwaine Pretorius and Nathan Sowter. The team also brought in international pacers Jayden Seales and Taskin Ahmed for USD 80,000 each. Meanwhile, Desert Vipers strengthened their squad with Pakistani stars Fakhar Zaman and Naseem Shah, each signed for USD 80,000, and leg-spinner Qais Ahmad for USD 40,000.

Looking Ahead to ILT20 Season 4

The excitement surrounding the ILT20 continues to build as the tournament is set to kick off on December 2, 2025, coinciding with UAE National Day. Spanning 34 matches, this season promises to be the most competitive yet, featuring mega-money signings and a spotlight on Associate Nations. With local pacers stepping into the limelight and franchises investing heavily in talent, the stage is set for an exhilarating season of cricket.
