When Expectations Meet Reality

Mannat waits anxiously, convinced today’s the day Vikrant will finally bring up their wedding plans. There’s an expectation in her eyes as she watches him enter the room, but instead of the conversation she’s been rehearsing in her head, Vikrant turns to Shruthi with a simple request.

“Aunty, would you mind cooking something for me today?” he asks casually, seemingly oblivious to Mannat’s anticipation.

Mannat can’t hide her disappointment. “Don’t you want to talk about something with me?” she asks, trying to guide the conversation where she hopes it will go.

Vikrant glances at her, completely missing her hint. “Oh, I just wasn’t in the mood to cook, so I asked aunty to help out,” he explains with a shrug. Before Mannat can press further, he adds, “I’m heading to Mezbani soon for work. Please don’t disturb me while I’m there, okay?”

And just like that, he’s gone, leaving Mannat standing there wondering if she’s been reading too much into things between them. (We’ve all been there, right?)

Later, Mannat finds Shruthi in the kitchen, preparing food with particular care. Something about the scene bothers her.

“Why are you cooking for him?” Mannat asks, unable to keep the edge from her voice.

Shruthi looks up, beaming with maternal pride. “I’m cooking for my son-in-law! What’s wrong with that?”

This pushes Mannat over the edge. “Son-in-law? He hasn’t even proposed to me yet! We haven’t discussed anything about getting married,” she exclaims, frustration bubbling over. “How can you call him that already?”

Desperate for answers, Mannat calls Shalini to track down Vikrant. “Is Vikrant with you?” she asks hopefully.

“No, he isn’t here,” Shalini responds smoothly. What Mannat doesn’t know is that Vikrant is standing right next to Shalini, finger pressed to his lips, orchestrating some kind of surprise.

Still searching, Mannat calls Vikrant directly. “Where are you right now?” she asks.

“I’m at Mezbani, working,” he answers without hesitation.

After hanging up, Mannat turns to Shruthi, eyes flashing with hurt. “He’s lying to me now,” she says. “I need to find out if he’s really at Mezbani or not.”

Facing Painful Truths

Meanwhile, in a different corner of their world, Mallika confronts her father Gagan with raw emotion written across her face. Her voice breaks as she speaks.

“How could you support Mannat instead of your own daughter?” she demands. “You can see Mannat’s happiness clearly, but my pain means nothing to you?”

Gagan stands his ground, watching his daughter carefully. Mallika continues, “I’ve lost everything in my life. And youโ€”you forced me to sign those divorce papers!”

“Have you asked yourself what exactly you’ve lost, Mallika?” Gagan questions, his tone gentle but firm. “Are you upset with me? Is that it?”

Mallika shakes her head in disbelief. “I never expected this from you,” she admits. “I’m so disappointed.”

Gagan takes a breath before delivering a truth Mallika doesn’t want to hear. “You lost everything because of your obsession with Vikrant,” he explains. “You even lost yourself along the way. What’s happening now? You’re paying for your own actions.”

“Mannat got what she deserved because of her good heart. She earned it. If you want happiness back in your life, you need to change yourself for the better. Earn people’s trust again. When you do that, I’ll support you in finding your happiness.”

This is too much for Mallika. “I hate you!” she shouts, the words echoing in the empty space between them.

The Surprise Worth Waiting For

Determined to uncover the truth, Mannat makes her way to Mezbani. When she arrives, she immediately spots Shalini.

“Is Vikrant here?” she asks directly. Behind Shalini’s back, Vikrant signals frantically, and Shalini follows his lead.

“No, he isn’t here,” Shalini lies smoothly.

This confirmation of deception is the last straw for Mannat. “He lied to me again,” she says, disappointment washing over her. “I thought he was different, but he’s just like everyone else.”

Mannat’s voice softens as she continues, “I’ve been considering him as my babaji’s Banda. But he still hasn’t proposed to me. I thought once our problems were solved, he would ask about marriage.”

With nowhere else to turn, she closes her eyes in prayer. Unknown to her, Vikrant quietly sits down beside her. Lost in her thoughts, Mannat leans against what she thinks is Shalini’s shoulder and pours out her heart, unwittingly confessing her wishes directly to Vikrant himself.

“Come with me,” Vikrant says finally, giving away his presence. “I want to show you something.”

Confused but curious, Mannat follows him. What she sees next leaves her speechlessโ€”a room transformed with beautiful decorations, clearly prepared with care and intention. (Okay, this is where things get good!)

Standing in the middle of this dreamlike setting, Vikrant takes her hands in his. “From the first moment I saw you,” he begins, his voice steady with certainty, “something changed in me. Your presence makes me feel comfortable yet completely overwhelmed at the same time.”

He looks directly into her eyes. “I love you, Mannat. Will you marry me?”

Mannat’s answer comes in the form of a nod, words failing her in this perfect moment. Together, they stand there, memories of their journey together flashing between themโ€”every challenge, every smile, every moment that led them here.

But not everyone shares in their joy. Later, Neetu confides in Roni, “I don’t like Mannat.”

Roni points out the obvious: “But Vikrant likes her.”

Undeterred, Neetu begins planting seeds of doubt. “She’s bad luck,” she insists, reminding Roni of unfortunate incidents from the past. “She’ll separate Vikrant from us. You’ll see.”

What she doesn’t see is Vikrant standing within earshot, hearing every word. He steps forward, confronting his mother’s fears directly.

“Mom,” he says firmly but gently, “I promise I won’t leave you. But my love for Mannat remains unchanged.” With quiet determination, he adds the words that will shape their future: “I need you to accept her.”
