State Minister Veena George Inaugurates National Ayush Mission Workshop on IT Solutions

The National Workshop on “IT Solutions in the Ayush Sector” commenced today in Kumarakom, Kerala, under the auspices of Smt. Veena George, the state’s Minister for Health and Women & Child Development. This two-day event, organized by the National Ayush Mission, has attracted representatives from 91 States and Union Territories, with 155 participants including senior officials, technical experts, and policymakers. The workshop aims to align with the priorities established during the Ayush Departmental Summit 2025 held in New Delhi, focusing on integrating technology into the Ayush sector.
Minister’s Vision for Ayush and Technology
In her opening remarks, Minister Veena George highlighted the significance of Kumarakom’s natural beauty as a symbol of the harmony that the Ayush sector promotes. She emphasized the necessity of embracing technological advancements while preserving traditional values. The Minister called for the development of digital tools that can integrate into the health ecosystem, enabling real-time monitoring, improved human resource management, and transparent financial tracking. She urged participants to collaborate in creating a centralized, interoperable digital framework that strengthens the National Health Mission and ensures equitable access to healthcare services. Minister George expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Ayush and all stakeholders involved, hoping the workshop would lead to innovative digital platforms and aligned national initiatives.
Keynote Address by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, delivered the keynote address, stressing the critical need for integrating IT solutions within the Ayush sector. He pointed out that adopting digital tools is essential for enhancing accessibility, affordability, and quality of service delivery. Kotecha elaborated on ongoing initiatives like the Ayush Grid and new digital portals aimed at fostering collaboration among States and Union Territories. He emphasized the importance of standardizing software to prevent duplication and ensure equitable access to modernized Ayush services nationwide. He encouraged all participants to embrace these digital innovations and align their efforts with the broader National Digital Health Mission.
Collaboration and Innovation in Health Solutions
Shri Rajan N. Khobragade, Additional Chief Secretary (Health & Ayush) of the Government of Kerala, praised the state’s achievements in health and Ayush infrastructure, as well as its progress in digital inclusion. He urged other States and Union Territories to adopt Kerala’s model and work together to create user-friendly, centrally integrated, and locally adaptable digital platforms. Khobragade stressed the importance of maintaining uniform standards in data management, patient services, and monitoring systems. Dr. Raghu, Advisor to the Ministry of Ayush, highlighted the workshop’s role in promoting IT-driven solutions that enhance transparency and patient care while supporting robust research and infrastructure development.
Workshop Objectives and Future Directions
The workshop serves as a platform for exchanging best practices and innovations, providing orientation on Central Government IT platforms like Ayush Grid, and discussing critical areas such as program management, patient care, and financial tracking. Participants will also engage in a two-day field visit to various Ayush facilities in Kerala, showcasing successful initiatives like the Ayushman Arogya Mandir and the Sports Ayurveda Project. This National Workshop marks a significant step forward in India’s efforts to create a dynamic, citizen-focused Ayush digital health ecosystem, ensuring that no community is left behind in the digital transformation of healthcare services.
